starting a new day with buttlifter shorts

Buttlifter Shorts and Living in the Present Moment …What?

Buttlifter shorts, like all types of shapewear, seem like plain old articles of (albeit stretchy) clothing, not zen talismans of cosmic transcendence. True enough. But the case can be made that clothing that really holds you provides an ongoing reminder; it helps you pay attention to your present experience. And would it be a stretch to say that your present experience is all that exists in your universe? Read on, and I shall outline the argument that shapewear can shape not only your curves but your consciousness in general.

Butt Shapers and Consciousness?

First, let’s talk about what consciousness is. A tree is not conscious, a dog kind of is, and you definitely are. When you are asleep, you are not really conscious. When you are awake and really focussed, then you are definitely conscious. And when you are daydreaming or lost in thought, then you are somewhere in the middle. Consciousness is the awareness of the experiences you are having … and awareness only exists in the present moment.

Your Attention Is Everything

If consciousness is the awareness of experience, then can we boost our consciousness by paying better attention? Yes! Can we improve our attention by wearing buttlifter shorts? Yes! Okay, that sounds a little silly, but shapewear can actually remind you to live in the moment. Sometimes ordinary things, especially things you wear, can spark a fresh awareness of your experience. Consider rosary bracelets, recovery coins, and even wedding rings as examples.

All your thoughts, feelings, and sensations – the physical, mental, and emotional experiences of your life – can present themselves to your awareness in the present moment. Even memories are a feature of the present moment. Sure they were created in the past, but a memory is only experienced when you think of it. It is not a stretch to say that all that truly exists is the present moment. The past is memory and the future is imaginary. You only ever exist right here, right now. And that makes every moment pretty special when you stop to pay attention to it.

The Buttlifter Shorts Effect

So you slip some shaping underwear on in the morning. You certainly notice them at first. You feel how they shape your body, how they maybe help you stand taller, maybe even how they give you a confidence boost. Then as your day unfolds, you forget you have them on. So you’re at work, running errands, laughing with friends, completely unaware, and suddenly you remember. Maybe you catch your reflection or just notice how good you feel moving through the day. Again and again you remember you have them on, and it pulls you back and anchors you in the present moment.

Everyday Anchors

Living in the present is not about meditation retreats, ringing bells or burning incense. It’s about noticing what is happening right now. It is about being fully conscious. Memories of the past? They’re thoughts happening now. Worries about the future? Those are present-moment images in your mind. Realize this and you can choose almost anything as your anchor to bring your attention back to the present.

End the Day Where You Began

So tomorrow morning, take a pause. Start your day with attention to the present moment. Notice how incredibly special you are. Let something, whether it’s shapewear, morning coffee, the dog’s bark, or just the sunlight across your kitchen counter – let it remind you that life is happening right now. And the more you notice it, the richer it feels.
